A Monk’s Tale

Horrible Histories meets Monty Python in this hilarious new historical comedy from the award-winning co-writer of Miranda, Bluestone 42, Another Case of Milton Jones and Edinburgh Fringe 2013 hit The God Particle.

A Monk’s Tale.

A new play by James Cary.

With original music and lyrics by James Sherwood.

On Tour from the Edinburgh Fringe 2017.

Written to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, A Monk’s Tale is a fast-paced hour-long gallop through the circumstances and causes which led to one of Europe’s greatest social and political upheavals. Using sketches and songs, the talented three-person cast lead us through a heady mix of corruption and crusades, popes and purgatory, sacraments and (burning at the) stakes, indulgences and indignation, and much much more – fuelled by the unstoppable social media of its day, the all-new Printing Press.

Witty and entertaining, with plenty of laugh out loud moments, this is Reformation history as you have never seen it before – suitable for all ages from 8 to 108 and for those of any faith or none at all.
