All Aboard the Orient Express

On Saturday 9th February, 2013, over seventy good people of Stone boarded a specially chartered train – The Orient Express.

In a fundraising event to support the continuing employment of Kieran McKnight, Youth & Children’s Worker for Christ Church and Oulton with Moddershall, the Church Centre was transformed into an elegant Pullman-Style dining car.

Girls from the Church served the Edwardian-dressed passengers with a fully catered meal, whilst passengers watched the notable sights trundle past the window – Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, the Alps and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

The final destination – Venice – enabled the well-traveled to disembark, take a guided tour of the Basilica and an Art Gallery, before a Gondola ride back to their seats, where the evenings entertainment was wrapped up with Rock Salt – a 70’s Christian Band reunited for the event.

The event raised over £1400, which will help to ensure that we can continue to employ Kieran to work with the children & Youth of Stone and the surrounding areas.

Funding for Kieran is entirely through voluntary giving. If you value the work of Kieran in the the community, schools and Churches of Stone, Oulton and Moddeshall, please contact the Church Office (details below) for details of how to donate to The Rock Youth Ministry.
