“Up or Down?”

As I get older everything seems to take longer.

It’s not easy to admit that one is slowing down….or is it slowing up? Both phrases refer to the same process, but perhaps it is better to speak of slowing up. Why should this be?

Saying we are slowing up gives a more positive emphasis than “slowing down”. In the scriptures heaven and the presence of God is always up. We have to look up to the cross. Jesus said “I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” (John 12:32).

Getting slower as we age may be inevitable but let’s slow up in His love, and not just slow down!
