The congregation at Christ Church has a real mix of long time members, others new to Stone, those who have recently become Christian, visitors, and those finding out more about Jesus. We would be delighted to welcome you to any of our services; please introduce yourself to our Vicar, Paul Kingman, or any of the side’s persons (they will be at the door with the service sheets). If we can help you, please ask.
Do use the menu above for details that might help you if you are new to Christ Church or new to Stone.
You may have been a regular member of a local church all your life. Or maybe your visit to us will be your first time inside a church building. The most important fact is that we would be delighted to see you at one of our regular services. Things may be familiar or new; our hope is that all we do helps you Discover Jesus, Engage with other believers and become a Blessing to the world.
When to arrive?
Our Sunday morning services start at 9.15am. If this is your first visit then it’s probably best to turn up around 5 or 10 minutes beforehand. If you are driving then there is plenty of free parking at the car park on Christ Church Way. As you enter the church you will be given an Order of Service. The Order of Service contains many of the words we use to pray and give thanks to God, as well as the words of the songs and hymns we will be singing, together with information about forthcoming events.
What to wear?
Whatever you feel comfortable in! Some come smartly dressed in suits, others in jeans and t-shirt. We have a fairly good heating system but if it is cold outside it can be cool inside.
I’m bringing young children.
Children of all ages are completely welcome at Christ Church. Please do not worry about whether or not they will fit in or sit still! The children often join in the singing with instruments, flags or banners (certainly not quiet!)
If you are bringing a buggy or pushchair then please use the main entrance to the Church which has easy access. If your child is asleep, feel free to bring the pushchair into the church itself. Otherwise there is room for pushchairs in the main corridor in the centre.
At the back of church is an enclosed area with toys and books for those with very young children. You are welcome to use this at any time. If your child is getting particularly noisy or you want some privacy then there is normally a room in the centre set up with more soft toys. Sound from the service is fed into this room so you can hear what is going on.
Children from 3 to 14 meet in their own groups during the service. Everyone stays together for the first part of the service then the children go to their groups. They will be brought back into the church before the end of the service, or in time for Communion.
For those with disabilities
There are disabled spaces in the car park near to Christ Church. The Church entrance has a ramp for wheelchair access and power-assisted doors. For those with hearing impairments there is a loop set up. The song sheet is available in large print; we also have some large print bibles. Please ask if there is anything we can do to make your visit more enjoyable for you.
