After a successful five-years working at the churches of Christ Church, St. Johns Oulton, and All Saints, Moddershall, Kieran McKnight will be moving on to new ventures later in the year, so we are have started the search for a replacement to start in September 2016.

YOUTH & CHILDREN’S MINISTER.

Based in Stone, Staffordshire, from September 2016.

We’re praying for a committed Christian who has some experience in a Bible-based ministry, to join us in order to make disciples amongst young people from September.  To further your Bible training to date we offer a day release for the Midlands Ministry Training Course, as we are a member church of The Midlands Gospel Partnership. Familiarity with an Anglican Evangelical church would be an advantage.  A servant heart and a vision for mission are essential.

Our priority is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. To this end we have an existing discipleship group, youth club, regular school contact through assemblies plus a middle school lunchtime club, church based after-school children’s clubs and also Sunday School groups. We would like to develop this ministry further and for you to develop as a gospel minister.  A job description is found on the website: www.christchurchstone.org.

We offer an initial contract of one year, with a view to renewal by mutual agreement. We provide a house plus a salary (ca. £14-18k depending on qualifications and experience). There is a genuine occupational requirement for the post holder to be a Christian (Equality Act 2010). The post is subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check.

Job title: Youth and children’s minister.

Hours: Full time.

At Christ Church, Stone and Oulton with Moddershall our vision is to make disciples as we reach the local community with the gospel of Jesus Christ. This includes children and youth. We are a growing church situated in a market town and two villages in north Staffordshire. We seek to cater for people of all ages and there is a thriving youth and children’s work already in place.

We want to take on a person to head up our growing youth and children’s gospel work and to learn about church based ministry. Our priority is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We have an existing discipleship group, youth club (plus team), regular school contact through assemblies plus a middle school lunchtime club, after-school children’s clubs and also Sunday School. We would like to develop this ministry further. We would like you to develop as a gospel minister.

We are looking for someone with the ability to build upon the youth and children’s ministries already in place and to grow this in line with the vision of the church. We need someone who can work within the existing staff team and who can also lead and develop teams of volunteers.

Role summary – Key tasks:

To encourage the children and young people in their relationship with God.

To build good relationships with the children and young people, acting as a Christ-like role model.

Engage Christian young people in discipleship including the Bereans group.

Lead and teach both small and large groups of children and young people effectively.

Build positive relationships with parents, team members and the church congregation; providing regular communication as required.

Be part of the Sunday School team and resource its teachers .

Recruit, train and build teams of volunteers.

Develop community outreach in the local area, including schools work.

Complete the responsibilities of a staff team member such as attending weekly staff meetings, completing paperwork deadlines and attending staff meetings.

Follow the church’s Safeguarding policy.

Person Description

Essential:

Evidence of some Bible training and the desire to undertake more.

Experience of Bible teaching.

Experience of church based youth and children’s work.

The ability to build good relationships with young people and their families from various backgrounds and to provide pastoral support where needed.

Organisational ability to plan and implement a youth and children’s programme in line with Biblical principles and the church vision.

Ability to work as part of a team (staff, events, volunteer teams).

There is a genuine occupational requirement for the post holder to be a Christian (Equality Act 2010).

 

Desirable:

Previous involvement in schools work.

Experience of running small discipleship groups and training for leaders.

Relevant qualification.
